History
Our Council 9557 joined the Knights of Columbus in 1987 and chose the name St. Vladimir The Great in honour of the man who brought Christianity to Ukraine in the year 988.

General Meetings
Every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the St. John Baptist Shrine hall.
Note: No regularly scheduled meetings during July and August.
Who are the Knights?
The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.7 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.
As a member of the Knights of Columbus you and your family enjoy many benefits, including 12 free issues annually of the Columbia magazine, the world's largest Catholic family magazine, eligibility to join the Knights of Columbus top-ranked life insurance program, and many more family and personal benefits.
St. Vladimir The Great Council works to support and strengthen the parish of St. John the Baptist Shrine as well as other worthy causes in the broader Ukrainian community and the Ottawa region. The major benefactors include St. Vincent’s Hospital, Holy Spirit Seminary, Sheptytsky Institute, Eastern Catholic Chaplaincy, and the Arthritis Society.
Any men of our parish are urged to become Knights by approaching any current member of the council and enquire about the membership process.

Charter Night
On May 29, 2010, our Council celebrated the 22nd anniversary of obtaining a K of C charter with a dinner and awards presentation. Special mention is given to Rick sheffchick who chaired this event, to Gary Ingimundarson and Michael Pawlowsky who welcomed the guests, to Ron Sorobey at the admitting table, and the brother Knights and spouses who prepared the dinner and decorated the tables.
In keeping with the "Year of the Priest" theme, all of the local Ukrainian priests and their spouses were dinner guests. Other special guests included the wives of brother Knights.
